    Beginning with a swift swipe right, Danny and Janu started their love story in Jacksonville, FL. Air hockey, longboarding, scrabble matches, cooking lessons, and a first kiss for the books at the Cummer Museum’s garden made it pretty clear to both of them that this was the start of something special. 

  • Long Distance – Delta Flight #2333

    When Janu matched into residency at Wayne State University in Michigan, the couple decided that theirs was a love worth fighting long distance for. Two years, 20 flights, and one doctorate degree later, Danny and Janu emerged stronger than ever and ready for the next adventure. 

  • To Chennai, and beyond!

    Danny’s first trip to India opened his eyes to the people and places that shaped Janu. Meeting Lallima, a family road trip through Tamil Nadu and Kerala, and too many dosas to count, Danny developed his own relationship with India and found himself more in love with Janu.

  • Detroit

    Just a small town boy, a city girl born in South Detroit (but actually Rochester), got off I-75 N to truly begin their #Journey. Four seasons in the Mitten state flew by as Danny started his first year of clinic practice and Janu finished her last year of residency. Through it, they took on all the changes as a team.

  • Chicago

    Little did Danny know when he proposed to Janu at the Chicago Art Institute that it would foreshadow their future. A few months later, Janu matched into Infectious Disease Fellowship and Danny into orthopedic residency, both at RUSH. Since landing in the Windy City, they’ve fallen in love with the people, taken time to appreciate the parks and have mandatory date nights on Fridays at restaurants throughout the city.

Essential Details

Travel

We strongly encourage you to arrive to the Mangalore International Airport on or before March 14th as festivities will kick off on the 15th morning. This is the closest airport to the venue, but still a two-hour drive away. We will be coordinating road transportation via shuttles from the Mangalore International Airport to our venue throughout the day on March 14th. Confirm your pick up from Mangalore International Airport by sharing your arrival and departure timings along with the flight numbers, so that we can provide you with assistance. Please drop all your details at januanddanny@gmail.com.

We are unable to coordinate airport-to-venue transit outside of March 14th but are happy to provide information to assist you. Transport to the Mangalore International Airport from Taj Bekal will be organized on March 17th.

  • Most likely, yes! You may require a visa to enter India, depending on your citizenship. Most passport holders can apply for an e-visa. In our experience, the e-visa only takes a few days to process.  Please check the following website for the list of countries that can apply for this as well as the application form: indianvisaonline.gov.in/evisa/tvoa.html  

    For further details on visa applications, please contact our wedding planner as you will need to list a host’s contact info, including number and address.

  • Please reference this link to the CDC’s recommendations for travel to India Traveler's Health | CDC and India | CDC Yellow Book 2024. We suggest guests be up to date on all general immunizations, including Flu and COVID-19 since March will be the tail end of respiratory virus season in India. India is endemic for Typhoid, so we encourage you to consider Typhoid immunization, especially if you plan on traveling beyond Bekal and enjoying some of the street food India has to offer.

  • Kerala is not considered high risk for Malaria, however, if traveling throughout central and north India we would encourage you to consider Malaria prophylaxis.   • That's totally up to you! Paying with a credit card will be possible in some places, but we suggest downloading Gpay or exchanging some money at the airport.

  • We highly recommend that you stick to drinking sealed bottled water, which the hotel will have. The tap water at Taj Bekal is filtered, so you can use tap water to shower and brush your teeth.

  • We want to enjoy the moment with you, so we ask that you keep your phone away during the Muhurtham ceremony. Don't worry - we will have a designated moment during the ceremony for you to take your best shot. For all other events, please feel free to snap away (and send us the photos too!)
